A studio's heartbeat is the audio interface which bridges the gap between the analog and the digital world. We as producers and engineers spend countless hours to select the best "bang for the buck" interface with brilliant conversion the lowest latency, that is another discussion on its own. Let talk about this particular one, The FiiO D03K digital to analog converter.

What is this?
This is a D/A converter that fits in the palm of your hand, but its a converter like no other.
The conversion is from an optical/Coaxial signal to an analog TRS/RCA connection.
Why do you need this?
This is particularly useful for having an additional set of analog outs on your interface.
Most interfaces today comes with an Spdif/Coax output that can be used for additional outputs used via this device.
Example: The Focusrite 6i6 gen 2 interface I use has a Spdif IO, the analog outs are limited 4 but the interface is capable for 6 total outputs routed via the software controller.

Output ?!
The analog headphone output is not the most robust headphone amp but it will drive your average studio ear/headphones. The the sound quality is actually surprising compared to its price.
I would suggest this for any home studio setup to include this and gain additional set of outputs that can be used for referencing on consumer speakers, talent monitor mix, inear mix feed when used for live playing etc.
This is the best device for this purpose you can get on the market right now!
If you find this useful considering sharing this post!
Peace!
